Creating the 3-D model of the Chapel Bridge.

The 3-D model of the Chapel Bridge is comprised of various components. Using the 18th truss beam on the bridge as an example, we can show you how the Chapel Bridge was created electronically.

The first step is to scan the hand-drawn plan of the bridge.

The second step entails converting the scanned 2-D plan into a 3-D sketch.

In the third step, the individual components are made to appear as if they protrude from the sketch, producing what seem to be three-dimension al objects from the lines created in step 2.

The final step involves applying the proper texture to the various materials of the components.
